Ergonomics
Perazzi shotguns are custom-built to the shooter, and while this wasn’t built specifically for me, I was impressed. The grip, palm swell, and trigger reach felt fantastic in the hand. The Monte Carlo stock sits quite high for my setup, but it’s designed for those quick-rising bunker and pigeon targets.
The checkering on the Beaver Tail forend is stunning and feels great. Balance-wise, the gun was intentionally built slightly lighter on the front end with no side rib—perfect for fast target transitions. Everything from the mid bead to the 7mm rib was designed for visibility and quick acquisition.
Recoil and Reliability
Let’s talk recoil. I was shooting standard 1⅛ oz loads, and while they hit a bit harder than sub-gauge shells I had been shooting earlier, the Perazzi handled it well. With proper grip and mount, the recoil felt very manageable. The stock design, tight tolerances, and coil spring trigger all contribute to a soft-shooting feel.
Reliability? You’d expect nothing less from a Perazzi. These guns are known to last decades and perform flawlessly. The ejectors were strong and consistent, and the trigger group dropped out with ease for maintenance. This platform is designed for high-volume shooting and long-term durability.
Breakdown / Quality of Build
Top-tier doesn’t even begin to describe it. The fit and finish are everything you'd expect from a $17,000+ shotgun. The Turkish walnut on this model was likely SC2 grade—gorgeous grain and finish. The nickel-plated receiver was crisp and elegant, though I’d personally add a touch of engraving to spice it up.
The Boss-style locking system provides solid lockup, and the contact surfaces between the monoblock and receiver are extensive, meaning less wear and longer life. Everything clicks together with buttery smoothness, a clear sign of the hand-finishing that goes into each Perazzi. Truly a lifetime gun.
Shooting Experience
This gun was born to move—and move it does. I ran it through a few bunker-style presentations, including quick random targets, and was blown away by how fast and fluid it felt. The lighter front end and high POI (around 70/30) make it easy to get on rising birds fast.
It didn’t fit me perfectly, so my eye alignment was a little off, but it still crushed targets. The lack of a barrel selector and the simplicity of the top tang safety give it a no-nonsense feel that I appreciate in a performance shotgun.
Summary
The Perazzi High Tech is not just a shotgun—it’s an instrument crafted for serious competition. From the flawless trigger to the customizable fit and high-end finish, it delivers elite performance. While the price tag may keep it out of reach for most, it’s clear why these guns are used by top competitors around the world. My only minor critique is aesthetic—I'd personally go for a little engraving flair—but that’s fully customizable, too.
This was my first time reviewing a Perazzi High Tech, and I came away thoroughly impressed. If you ever get the chance to try one—take it. And if you own one, I want to hear your thoughts!
