Fabarm Elos 2 Elite | Could this be the Best Upland O/U for the $?
Nov 25, 2025Some shotguns catch your eye. Others earn your respect the moment you take them hunting. The Fabarm Elos 2 Elite did a little of both as Travis Mears and I carried it through the upland fields at Greystone Castle. Here’s what stood out and why it might fit your style of hunting. Let’s jump in.

Fabarm Elos 2 Elite
The Elos 2 Elite is Fabarm’s steel-receiver upland over/under, built with upgraded wood, color-case hardening, and gold inlays that look even better in sunlight. Travis and I ran it on an upland hunt and again on the range, and the overall theme was balance — light enough to carry, stable enough to shoot smoothly, and built to last. It’s available in both 12 and 20 gauge, with the 20-gauge model we tested coming in lighter than factory spec.

Ergonomics
The Elos 2 Elite’s stock is the first thing that grabs you — beautiful upgraded wood with real figure, and a matte hand oil finish. The checkering hits a sweet spot for hunting conditions: enough grip for rain, sweat, and gloves, but not overly aggressive. The forend is a slim schnabel style that feels lively in hand, and the rib stays clean with no mid-bead to distract your eye. Safety manipulation is smooth, and the gun mounts naturally despite being slightly short for me. The round-body receiver paired with that color-case finish makes this gun shine in both form and feel.

Recoil and Reliability
The 20-gauge Elos 2 Elite is especially comfortable to shoot. Compared to the lighter Elos D2 we also carried in the field, the Elite has noticeably less jump and a softer overall push. Even with quick follow-up shots, the gun stayed in position and ready for the next bird or clay. For its weight class, this is one of the most enjoyable upland O/Us I’ve shot. Reliability was exactly what we expected from Fabarm: consistent, smooth, and predictable.

Breakdown / Quality of Build
Inside the receiver, you’ll find the same story the outside tells: clean machining, tight lockup, quality ejectors, and thoughtful engineering. Everything fits together with confidence. Fabarm builds guns meant to last, and this one is no exception.
Shooting Experience
On the hunt and on the clays, the Elos 2 Elite handled smoothly and shot exactly where we pointed it. The gun balances well between the hands, swings naturally, and the mechanical triggers broke cleanly in that 4–5 lb range. Travis and I ran a shooting challenge with it, and even though one of us may have “started really well and ended really poorly,” the gun wasn’t the problem. Overall, it’s a fun shotgun to shoot — the kind that makes you want to run just one more pair.
Final Thoughts
The Fabarm Elos 2 Elite checks a lot of boxes for upland hunters: beautiful craftsmanship, balanced handling, comfortable recoil, and solid real-world performance. It stood out against the lighter D2 in overall shootability, and while I don’t own one yet… I definitely want one now. That’s the real problem with this job — every great gun makes you want to bring it home.
