Ergonomics

The ergonomics of the Fusion Bull Prime are pretty solid for its price. The shotgun is slightly front-heavy, which helps with a smooth swing but can make it a bit more tiring to carry for extended upland hunts. The fore-end has a well-contoured grip, making it comfortable for various hand sizes, while the pistol grip is on the narrower side. The checkering is decent, and the stock features a thickened cheek piece, accommodating both right- and left-handed shooters.

One downside is that the shims between the stock and the receiver stand out slightly more than normal. The safety is a standard triangular design, and the bolt release is adequate. The bolt handle is surprisingly nice. The vented rib is flat off the receiver with a single brass bead, keeping it simple. The slug barrel features a fiber optic front sight with an adjustable rear sight.

Recoil and Reliability

Recoil on the Bull Prime was very manageable, with a slight muzzle jump, but nothing excessive. The gas system helps mitigate felt recoil, making it a relatively soft shooter. The only notable issue was with loading—getting shells into the magazine requires significant thumb pressure, and the lifter has a tendency to catch fingers.

As for reliability, the Fusion Bull Prime performed exceptionally well. Even right out of the box, it cycled everything from light target loads to heavy Prairie Storm loads without a hitch. Compared to other Turkish shotguns that often need a break-in period, this gun functioned smoothly from the start.

Breakdown/Quality of Build

Disassembly is straightforward, with a barrel nut securing the fore-end and barrel. The build quality is impressive for the price, with a functional and well-thought-out design. Fusion’s decision to manufacture through their subsidiary in Turkey, rather than outsourcing to different factories, may contribute to the consistency and quality control of this firearm.

One minor gripe is the number of small parts during takedown, making it slightly more complex than higher-end options. However, given the price point, this is a reasonable trade-off.

Shooting Experience with the Bull Prime

On the range, the Fusion Bull Prime performed exceptionally well. Mounting felt natural, and the shotgun pointed and swung smoothly. The trigger was a standout feature—breaking at just under 4 lbs, it is surprisingly crisp and light for a budget shotgun. This made for fast and accurate follow-up shots, particularly in a speed test where it cycled quickly and reliably.

Switching to the slug barrel, the gun continued to impress. The adjustable rear sight allowed for fine-tuning, though it shot high out of the box. The rifle barrel is fixed with a dovetailed front sight, providing a solid aiming platform. While not an accuracy test, initial shots showed good potential for consistent performance with proper slug selection.

The Fusion Bull Prime delivers an incredible amount of value for just $529. It comes with two barrels, cycles reliably, and features a surprisingly light trigger. Recoil is manageable, and it performs well across a range of loads. The biggest drawback is the somewhat cumbersome loading process, but this is a small issue in the grand scheme of what this gun offers. If you're looking for an all-in-one bird and deer hunting shotgun at a budget price, the Fusion Bull Prime is a compelling option.
