The Five Stand 

Since Minnesota winters don’t give us much of a chance to shoot, we took advantage of the good weather right away and tried out their covered five stand. With the show coming up, I wanted to try and knock off some of that winter rust. 

The FITASC and Sporting Courses

One of the best things about Providence Hill is its accessibility. The FITASC course was close to the pro shop, making it easy to get to—a huge plus compared to some other ranges. The targets were challenging, creative, and incredibly fun. Experiencing these master-class level target presentations led me to believe that Wiverson was a life long shooter with a lot of competitive experience. So you can image how surprised I was to learn that he shot his first clay in 2019... In just five years, he went from picking up a shotgun for the first time to owning one of the premier shooting destinations in the country. In fact, Providence Hill is set to host the U.S. Open this year!

Southern Hunting at Its Finest

A trip down South wouldn’t be complete without quail hunting, and Providence Hill had just the spot. With beautiful pine stands, incredible dog work, and fast-moving coveys, it was the ultimate upland hunting experience. Watching Rylan take his first quail was an unforgettable moment. He made a great shot! There’s nothing quite like the rush of a covey flushing up, forcing you to pick a target and take the shot in just a split second.

The Helice Rings

One of the things that sets Providence Hill apart is its two permanent Helice fields. Many venues set up temporary Helice fields for special events, but here, they are a permanent attraction. To mix things up, we set up a challenge. Rylan & Jimmy (Director of Shooting Sports) were on a team, and Wiverson & I were on another. We each shot at 5 birds - best score wins! My favorite part of the Helice ring was introducing Rylan to his awesome game for the very first time. He did amazing and even knocked out his old man in the final round.

The Cabins & Amenities

Providence Hill isn’t just about the shooting—it’s about the experience. That night, we checked into one of their brand-new cabins with a beautiful lake views. Before we went to bed, we were served a five-star meal prepared by the on-site chef. Providence Hill has mastered the art of "Southern hospitality".

The Exhibition Show & New Year’s Eve Party

After warming up at the duck flush in the morning, it was time to get ready for the exhibition show. It dawned on me that this show capped off my 15th year of performing live shows. 13 years with my brother Aaron, and now two years of sharing the stage with my son. What a blessing its been. After the show, we enjoyed an amazing New Year’s Eve party complete with live music, delicious food, and a very impressive fireworks display.
